RCD’s

An RCD, or residual current device, is a safety device that is designed to prevent you from receiving a fatal electric shock. Usually the current running through two wires is equal. When an earth leakage occurs due to a fault in the circuit or faulty equipment, an imbalance occurs. This is detected by the RCD, which cuts off the power before injury or damage occurs.

RCDs are required by Australian law, and home owners are required to comply with national regulations. Your safety is our concern, so at Live N Up Electrical we will access your home and install RCDs to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones.

Landlords must ensure that RCDs are installed in line with the wiring rules on switch boards in their rental properties. If you are planning to sell your home, then you are legally required to fit RCDs to protect all circuits supplying power points and lights before the land title can be transferred.
