Underground Power Connection

Live N Up Electrical, in conjunction with Western Power, can install an underground supply point that allows you to change your overhead service cable (the overhead line from the power pole in the street to your home) to an underground pole to pillar connection. This involves Western Power connecting an underground cable from the power pole to a pillar; usually located at the front of your home. Live N Up Electrical then runs a mains cable from your pillar to your meter box to complete the connection.

BOOK A QUOTE

Live N Up Electrical is happy to manage all underground power projects, from domestic to sub divisions and commercial projects. We work with Western Power, taking care of all the paperwork for you. Western Power requires all electricity connections to be underground, so when a property is subdivided and a new connection is produced, the new connection and all affiliate connections must be placed underground. Connecting to underground power has several benefits: it is more secure that overhead connections during a storm, it removes the need to manicure trees close to overhead lines and can improve the aesthetic appeal of your home.

As of the 7th of July 2017, Western Power’s charges for pole to pillar installation increased. Western Power previously subsidised the cost of underground power lines, to reach a target of 50% of underground lines in the metro area. Perth is currently sitting at around 65%, and as a result, the price increased from $681 to $3400 if you are on the same side of the road as the power lines, and $4900 if you are on the opposite side to the power lines. You will also need to pay your electrician for the connection component of the project.
